Smile Solutions at the Manchester Unity Building: Location, Transport, and Access Guide
Smile Solutions is on Level 1 of the Manchester Unity Building, 220 Collins Street, Melbourne VIC 3000, right on the corner of Collins and Swanston Streets, directly opposite Melbourne Town Hall. It's one of the most central addresses in the CBD, which makes getting here pretty straightforward no matter how you're travelling.
Recognising the Building
The Manchester Unity Building is easy to spot. Its stepped Art Deco tower rises from the Collins and Swanston corner, lit up every night, and it's been one of the more photographed structures in the city for good reason. At street level, the ornate entrance and heritage arcade are visible from both streets. If you can see Melbourne Town Hall, look across the intersection and you're there.
By Tram
The building sits within the Free Tram Zone, so travel to this stop costs nothing.
Stop 6, Melbourne Town Hall/Collins Street, is directly outside on Collins Street. Routes stopping here include Route 11 (West Preston to Victoria Harbour), Route 12 (Victoria Gardens to St Kilda), Route 48 (North Balwyn to Victoria Harbour), and Route 109 (Box Hill to Port Melbourne).
Stop 11, City Square/Swanston Street, is just around the corner. Routes stopping here include Route 1 (East Coburg to South Melbourne Beach), Route 3/3a (Melbourne University to East Malvern), Route 5 (Melbourne University to Malvern), Route 6 (Melbourne University to Glen Iris), Route 16 (Melbourne University to Kew via St Kilda Beach), Route 64 (Melbourne University to Brighton East), Route 67 (Melbourne University to Carnegie), and Route 72 (Melbourne University to Camberwell).
By Train
Flinders Street Station is about a ten-minute walk south along Swanston Street. Head north past Federation Square and the City Square, and you'll hit the Collins Street intersection and the Manchester Unity Building.
Melbourne Central Station is a short walk south down Swanston Street. Flagstaff Station is a ten-minute walk east along Collins Street, and Southern Cross Station is about fifteen minutes east along Collins Street, or a quick tram ride on Route 11, 12, 48, or 109.
By Car and Parking
The nearest car park is on Flinders Lane, between Swanston and Russell Streets, a short walk from the building. Several other commercial car parks operate in the surrounding blocks. Street parking in this part of the CBD is limited and time-restricted during business hours, so an off-street car park is the more reliable option.
Walking and Cycling
Collins and Swanston is about as central as Melbourne gets, so walking from most parts of the CBD is straightforward. Federation Square is five minutes south, the State Library is five minutes north, Bourke Street Mall is three minutes north, and the Royal Botanic Gardens is around fifteen minutes south-east.
Cyclists can use the Swanston Street bike lane, which runs the full length of the CBD. Bicycle parking hoops are available on surrounding streets.
Accessibility
The Manchester Unity Building has wheelchair-accessible entry, with a clear path from street level to the clinic. Accessible lifts serve all floors, and accessible restrooms are available on clinical floors. Patients with mobility requirements can access Smile Solutions without difficulty.
