All-on-4 dental implants represent one of the most significant advances in modern restorative dentistry - and at Smile Solutions, the way this procedure is delivered is fundamentally different from what you will find at a general dental practice or a commercial implant clinic.

The Problem with How All-on-4 Is Usually Offered

Across Australia, All-on-4 is increasingly offered by general dentists after attending a short training course. The marketing is compelling, the price points are aggressive, and the outcomes - in too many cases - fall short. Patients end up with acrylic denture teeth that chip and discolour, or printed plastic resin bridges that are not designed for long-term function. Some face serious complications because complex extractions or bone grafting procedures were undertaken by clinicians without the specialist training to manage them safely.

At Smile Solutions, incorporating the Collins Street Specialist Centre, this situation is addressed by design.

A Team of Board-Registered Specialists

At Smile Solutions, All-on-4 is not performed by a single general dentist. It is delivered by a coordinated team of board-registered dental specialists - each registered with the Dental Board of Australia in their respective specialty.

The team includes:

  • Prosthodontists - specialist dentists in the restoration and replacement of teeth, responsible for the design, planning and fitting of your implant bridge
  • Periodontists - specialist dentists in the health of the gums and supporting bone
  • Oral and maxillofacial surgeons - including dual-qualified medical surgeons who can manage even the most complex extractions, bone procedures and implant placements
  • Specialist anaesthetists - when the procedure is performed under general anaesthetic in a private hospital setting

These are not dentists with weekend implant training. They are specialists with 3-4 years of additional postgraduate university training beyond their dental degrees - 7 to 8 years of tertiary education in total.

In a Private Hospital, Not a Dental Chair

For appropriate patients, Smile Solutions performs All-on-4 implant surgery in a private hospital under general anaesthetic, with private health insurance cover. General dentists are not credentialled to perform procedures in private hospitals. This matters enormously for patient safety, pain management, and the management of any medical complexity.

Swiss-Made Nobel Implants - No Compromises

Smile Solutions is an All-on-4 accredited practice. The implants used are Swiss-made Nobel Biocare implants - the gold standard in implant dentistry, with decades of clinical evidence behind them. No inferior alternatives are used.

The practice uses PF1 technique where possible - a bone-preserving approach that avoids unnecessarily removing jaw bone. When other practices default to PF3 (removing bone to simplify placement), this sacrifices the patient's future options. At Smile Solutions, bone preservation is prioritised.

Hand-Crafted Zirconia Teeth - Made in Melbourne

The teeth that attach to your implants at Smile Solutions are not acrylic denture teeth. They are not printed plastic resin. They are hand-crafted ceramic zirconia teeth mounted on a reinforced titanium bar substructure - built to last.

These are made in the Smile Lab, the in-house dental laboratory at Smile Solutions, under the direction of master ceramist Greg Karabasis. Every component is made in Melbourne. Nothing is outsourced offshore. Only TGA-approved products are used.

A temporary bridge is placed within 1-2 days of surgery. The permanent bridge follows after 3-6 months of proper osseointegration - the time it takes for the implants to fully fuse with the jaw bone. Practices that rush this process compromise the result.

Technology That Makes the Difference

Smile Solutions uses imaging and planning technology specifically selected for All-on-4 precision:

  • iCam 4D intraoral scanning
  • Exocad DentalCAD - 3D digital design software
  • coDiagnostix - surgical planning software that maps implant positions relative to nerves, sinuses and bone anatomy before a single incision is made

This level of digital planning eliminates guesswork and reduces surgical risk.

For Complex Cases - the Oral Surgeon Is In-House

Some All-on-4 cases involve anatomical challenges - insufficient bone, sinus proximity, nerve proximity, or medical complexity. At practices without a specialist oral surgeon, these patients are referred elsewhere, creating fragmented care and risk.

At Smile Solutions, the oral and maxillofacial surgeon is in-house. Complex cases are handled within the same practice, with the same team, in the same location. There are no external referrals.

Your Starting Point - a Complimentary Consultation

The entry point to All-on-4 at Smile Solutions is a complimentary initial appointment with Dr Kia Pajouhesh - an experienced registered dentist and the founding principal of Smile Solutions. Dr Pajouhesh personally conducts these consultations alongside his dedicated treatment coordinator. You will not be seen by a salesperson.

From there, the specialist team takes over - designing your treatment plan collectively, peer-reviewing each case, and managing every stage from planning to final placement.

One Team. One Location. One Standard.
